One of the most important duties of a Doctor before performing any medical diagnosis is to obtain consent from the patient. If the doctor fails to get the patient\u2019s consent before a medical exam, it will be considered an assault on the patient.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Consent, as defined by the Indian Contract Act, means \u201cTwo people agreeing to the same thing in the same sense.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

      What is Informed Consent, and Which Procedures Need it?<\/b><\/h3>\n

      Informed consent means when your Doctor or healthcare provider has explained the medical procedure to the patient and then waits for the patient to agree to the treatment. This process allows the patient to understand the pros and cons of a procedure, ask questions, and accept or deny the treatment on his will.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

      In a hospital or healthcare setting, informed consent consists of the information you need to decide, your decision-making capacity, your voluntary, and how you perceive the medical information to agree or deny a decision. These elements in the <\/span>consent form<\/b><\/a> empower you to decide for yourself and take an informed decision for your health. It is essential in a shared decision between you and your doctor.\u00a0 Procedures that might need informed consent include-<\/span><\/p>\n
